Conference on "Anticipation and Anticipatory Systems: Humans Meet Artificial Intelligence", June 10-13, 2019, Örebro University, Sweden

The Anticipation 2019 conference will be organized by the School of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences of the Örebro University. It is an important step towards the bridging of the various aspects of anticipation and the exploration of the missing link that might connect disparate anticipatory behavior.

Anticipation 2019 conference organized by the School of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences of the Örebro University is a step towards the bridging of the various aspects of anticipation and the exploration of the missing link that might connect disparate anticipatory behavior. The participants of this conference will try to answer the questions: can there be a holistic science of anticipation, can anticipation be the paradigm that will reinvent cybernetics from a more holistic perspective?

Anticipation Studies is a growing field of research still in need of unification. Anticipation is a rich concept pointing to a cluster of cognitive/emotional/cultural phenomena, in a wide range of contexts and situations. It is a promising paradigm in order to foster cross-disciplinarity and a cross-fertilization of ideas among researchers. In particular, anticipation studies could shed a new light in current debates about the ethics and sustainability of anthrobotic systems. This conference will kickstart a research cluster studying and connecting the various aspects of anticipation and deepening our knowledge about the relationship between ecosystems, noosystems and technosystems.

One of the keynote speakers will be professor Andrzej Skulimowski, President of the Progress and Business Foundation and professor of the AGH University of Science and Technology, Krakow (Poland), Information Systems scientist, Author of “Future Prospects of Human Interaction with Artificial Autonomous Systems. Preliminary title of his talk is “Networked Anticipatory Systems”.
