President´s letterAfter the fall of the command economy in Poland, the country faced uncertain future. With no previous experience in changing an ineffective economic system of Soviet type, Poland had been the first country ever to take this challenge and create conditions for the development of modern market economy. That, in turn, made the need of having first-class experts in finance and economy, yet even their experience might have turned out insufficient as they were to act in environments never examined before. We felt then that an institutional organisation to deal with complicated consultancy and advisory matters was necessary and therefore, in 1991, we established the "Progress & Business" Foundation, which became soon a leading consulting and advisory centre in the country. Since then we have developed and implemented a number of projects, some of which being mentioned below. We are convinced they have contributed to the development of Poland and of the institutions and companies involved and we hope to further strengthen our commitment to that in the future. Andrzej M.J.
